Crandall hauling chain is open-link, electrically welded chain made of Grade 3 or Oil Rig Quality (ORQ) steel. Chains are specially manufactured to our high standards and strict tolerances to assure the finest quality and "exact" fit on Crandall chain wheels. All Crandall hauling chain is inspected, gauged and tested. Open-link chain has these advantages over wire rope: it can be visually inspected for damage and measured for degree of wear; if a section is excessively worn, that piece can be replaced by a new section and reattached by use of Crandall hauling shackles. Crandall chain that is exposed to sea water will outlast a comparable strength wire cable by five to ten times, and is not subjected to internal corrosion and the flexing inherent in on-and-off drum winding. Crandall hauling chains can be supplied with classification society certification if requested.
